The Oldsmobile F-88 was a dream car created by Oldsmobile in 1954, with initial sketches made by Bill Lange. Oldsmobile in the 1950s became a staple in many middle to upper-class driveways, as it offered a distinctive style that stood out from Chevy but wasn’t as high-priced as Cadillac or Buick. Though mass-produced, only 6,452 of these models were convertibles.

Interior Features:

This Super 88 offers plenty of room for the family, with a factory-correct teal interior that retains its vintage charm. The Oldsmobile globe steering wheel remains in excellent condition, offering plenty of grip. Behind the wheel, the car features chrome gauges for amps, temperature, speedometer, fuel, and oil. The light and wiper switches are positioned to the lower left of the speedometer, while the lighter and ignition can be found to the lower right near the ashtray. Vent controls are located to the right of the steering column, with the heater/defroster controls and emergency brake to the left. The dashboard also includes the Autronic Eye, a feature that automatically dims the high beams when oncoming headlights are detected and returns the high beams once the other car passes.

Exterior Features:

This example is finished in a stunning Turquoise Poly color, which is beautifully accented by chrome brightwork. The chrome pieces are in excellent condition, and the body is straight with no bubbles or cracks in the paint. The glass and weatherstripping are also in excellent shape, while the engine compartment is detailed and finished in a glossy coat. The car proudly displays the Rocket 88 chrome badging throughout.

Engine & Performance:

The original engine has been replaced with a 6.0L V8 with an iron block, providing ample power. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission, which shifts smoothly and makes for an enjoyable driving experience. Recent upgrades include new front and rear shocks that lowered the front by 2 inches and the rear by 4 inches. This Super 88 is equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, and the engine is connected to a dual exhaust system through shorty headers, enhancing performance and sound.
