Dick’s Classic Motors is excited to present this 1969 Pontiac GTO for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. The 1969 Pontiac GTO is a true hero of the muscle car era, and it’s not hard to see why. Over 50 years ago, Detroit was producing cars with over 350 horsepower, no seatbelts, and an unmatched spirit. The American muscle car era remains one of the most iconic periods in automotive history, and the 1969 GTO perfectly encapsulates that legendary period.
The second generation of the Pontiac GTO ran from 1968–1972, representing the pinnacle of muscle car performance and design. For the 1969 model, GM refined the A-body platform, introducing a new fastback-inspired design, a 112” wheelbase, and the debut of the “Endura” paint-matched rubber bumper. The 1969 model also saw the removal of vent windows and a slight redesign of the grille.
Inside, the legendary rallye-style front bucket seats deliver the classic muscle car feel. The driver’s seat does have a small tear, but overall, the interior is in good condition. The original gauges are in working order and provide an authentic driving experience. Additional IEQUUS gauges are located under the dash. The upgraded RetroSound AM/FM radio with USB/SD MP3 functionality works perfectly, with the speakers also in great condition. The AC and controls work, though the compressor needs replacing to blow cold air.
Finished in Matador Red (code 52), this GTO boasts a driver-quality paint job. It also features the iconic ram air hood with a hood tach located just ahead of the windshield, illuminated for nighttime visibility. The car rides on BF Goodrich radial T/A tires (225/60R15) for a blend of performance and style.
Under the hood, the 350-hp 400-cu.in engine powers this GTO, paired with a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. The car is equipped with an Edelbrock 1406 4-barrel carburetor, power brakes (front disc, rear drum), and power steering. The GTO delivers impressive performance, making for an exhilarating driving experience.
